PhD in Civil and Construction Engineering at The University of Manchester , UK as an ORS Award holder. Worked in the area of Integrated Expert System for Municipal Solid Waste landfill Siting using Distributed Computing Platform (Java). Managing solid waste is one of the most costly urban services to provide; typically, it absorbs up to 1 per cent of GNP and 20 to 40 per cent of municipal revenues in developing countries. The absence of adequate planning and the use of inappropriate technology have led to a serious expenditure and effort in this direction. In order to optimize return from investments in solid waste management, countries must evolve sustainable solid waste management system based on expert systems. The research is focussed to harness expertise in an important domain and exploit the potential of the latest in computing technology to produce user-friendly systems for the non-computer specialist. With Java technology, which here encompasses both software and hardware technologies, the world of commercial computing rises to the demands of integrated solid waste management. Java is a platform-independent language that can be used to deploy applications over the World Wide Web.

I'm Shahriar from Bangladesh. Passed my childhood in Rajshahi University Campus as my father is a Professor of Public Administration in Rajshahi University. My mom is a Senior Education Officer in Varendra Museum, Rajshahi. I also spent two years at Jaypur, India from where my dad obtained his Ph.D. I have only one sister. 
 

Completed Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh Institute of Technology, (BIT) Rajshahi, in October, 1997 securing First position. 
 

Thereafter worked with Sthapati Sangshad Limited, Dhanmondia, as a Design Engineer. I worked as an Assistant Engineer in Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) until February 1999. Before joining M.Sc. Programme in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure at Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden I worked at University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) as a Research Assistant from February 1999 to August 2000.
